FAQs

Is a cat hammock good for cats?

Regardless of whether you are a parent to an indoor or outdoor cat, various research studies have shown that cats are much happier and likely to be well-behaved when provided with “environmental enrichment”.  Like adults, cats need a balance between rest and an active lifestyle and a cat hammock provides support for both actions in that a cat can rest in peace, high and away from annoyances and they can also play by climbing to the hammock and scratching posts or the hammock padding.

Cat hammocks provide an ideal place for cats to retreat, relax and enjoy privacy from a high viewpoint which cats naturally enjoy.  A peaceful, annoyance free location allows your cat to much more likely lead a stress-free home life.

Why do Aussie Cat Hammocks offer better products than other cat hammock brands?

At Aussie Cat Hammocks, all items we stock are carefully selected or produced based on our superior knowledge of cats needs and requirements, along with an exacting eye on product quality.  That is why we do not range an endless number of products and we offer a money back guarantee that is often not offered by less scrupulous operators.  Some of the key features of the cat hammocks we offer are listed below:

  • Nice wide, flat ledges that allow your large cat to stretch out comfortably.
  • U-shaped hammock that enables your cat to feel the comfort and warmth of the cotton hammock underneath and at his back
  • A very sturdy and secure cat hammock that does not wobble, which can make your cat feel uneasy and stressed
  • Additional posts for climbing and scratching

What size should my Cat Hammock be?

Most adult cats will weigh between 3 and 5 kilograms and all Aussie Cat Hammocks are tested to a minimum of 10+ kilograms  (Please check your selected item for specific weight specifications).

Cat Hammocks for large cats must be big enough to hold their adult weight, and let them lie down comfortably.  If this is your first time owning a pet cat, please carefully research the full-grown size of your pet to ensure you purchase a product that is suitable as your cat ages.

Are cat hammocks from Aussie Cat Hammocks difficult to install?

If you are capable of using a power drill, installing one of our hammocks could not be simpler.   Attached the base/rear or the hammock to a stable surface such as wood, plasterboard or concrete by first marking out where you would like your hammock to be placed. Next, drill small pilot holes and place the screw plugs into the holes.  Then align the hammock with the pre-drilled holes and plugs and screw on to the wall firmly.  Finally, place the padded base over protruding wooden arms to complete the set up.  It is as simple as that; your cat hammock is now ready for your cat to jump up into and relax.

Should I buy a Cat Hammock or a Cat Tree?

Cat Hammocks are a great alternative to a cat tree - primarily due to the fact that they tap into the natural instinct of a cat to survey surroundings from a higher vantage point.  They are a great spot for cats to sit and relax without being annoyed and this does not always occur when sitting or playing at a cat tree.  Cat Trees also take up precious floor space and create difficulties cleaning in and around whereas a mounted wall Cat Hammock is set up on the wall and away from distractions.

Do cat hammocks work for nail trimming?

Cat Hammocks are a great way to trim your cats' nails whilst they are comfortable and relaxed.  Of course, all cats are different, and some cats are more likely to remain calm and still in a cat hammock whilst having their nails trimmed however pet owner feedback indicated cat hammocks are one of the best ways to trim your cats' nails in a calm environment.

Are cat hammocks safe for cats?

Cat Hammocks are very safe if made from reliable, sturdy materials such as the products stocked by Aussie Cat Hammocks.   Beware of purchasing cheaper or plastic hammocks - these tend to be the window hanging type with suction cups - as these are prone to breakage or falling due to the suction cups not holding firmly.
